About Us

Donald G. Finlayson and John C. Singlehurst formed the firm of Finlayson & Singlehurst in 1989, both having been previously with Meredith & Finlayson. Don’s specialties lay in mining engineering while John, a former Patent Examiner, specializes in mechanical engineering and intellectual property law.

Hugh D. Campbell was a law student with Meredith & Finlayson in 1977, and officially joined Finlayson & Singlehurst in 1992 after working with leading intellectual property litigation law firms in London, England and Canada. Hugh brings further specialties in the fields of electrical engineering, communications and computer systems.

Donald Finlayson officially retired in 1996, but continued to work with the firm regularly in an advisor role. Donald Finlayson passed away in 2005.

Peter J. Pribil advises clients in all areas of patents, trade-marks, copyright, industrial designs and information technology.

Tim N. Vandermeer joined the firm in 2004 to assist with the expanding patent portfolio, and became a Registered Trade-mark Agent in 2007.

Markham D.R. Moore joined the firm in 2007 adding expertise in biological science, biotechnology, chemistry and in the prosecution of patent applications.

More recently, David A. Singlehurst joined in 2011 adding further expertise in mechanical engineering to assist with the patent prosecution work that continues to increase.
